Donavan Pillai
Biokineticist
Donavan Pillai qualified with a degree in Sport Science (Hons) Biokinetics at the University of Durban Westville, South Africa. He completed his internship at the University of Port Elizabeth where he also served as the Biokineticist for the UPE International Cricket Academy.
He has previously served as the Biokineticist for the Kwa-Zulu Natal Dolphins Cricket Union. Donavan Pillai has over 20 years experience in the Sport Science and Biokinetics field having worked amongst various sporting codes and populations.
He served as the Chairperson for the Biokinetics Association of South Africa (BASA)– KZN region as well as Director of Marketing and later the Director of Public Sector for the Biokinetics Association of South Africa. He worked as the Head of Sport Science and Medicine for JSW Sport (India), The Inspire Institute of Sport (India) and Bengaluru FC (India)
Stacy Gilchrist
Biokineticist
Stacy Gilchrist is a qualified Biokineticist with a degree in Sports Science (Hons) in Biokinetics from the University of Durban Westville. She has experience in various fields of Biokinetics
specialising in sports injury rehabilitation and has worked with a number of high school basketball and swim teams in the past. She has worked extensively with the KwaZulu Marlins Basketball team for a number of years as the team Biokineticist.
She also has a special interest in children and has developed a motor skill exercise program which focuses on strengthening muscle tone, core strength and flexibility for children of all ages
including those with special needs.
Stacy currently runs a swim school and has worked with aqua therapy for both children and adults
for a variety of conditions ranging from autism and cerebral palsy to arthritis and knee replacement rehabilitation.
Other areas of interest include sport injury strapping, low impact resistance training for weight loss and toning suitable for all levels and ages and training during pregnancy.
Prof Jeanne Grace
Biokineticist
Dr. Jeanne Grace holds a doctorate postgraduate qualification specializing in Biokinetics with over 15 years’ experience practicing as a Biokineticst. She is currently an Associate Professor and is involved with HPCSA (Biokinetics), Biokinetics Association of South Africa (BASA – Director of Health Promotion) and International Institute for Health Promotion providing a good foundation within the field of Biokinetics. As the BASA Director of Health Promotion, her role was to promote health promotion amongst its members, medical aids, and various corporate and public stakeholders.
Her area of specialisation as a practicing Biokineticist is consulting patients diagnosed with chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, arthritis, osteoporosis, heart diseases etc. and special populations like those who are pregnant, suffering from depression, children and the elderly.
Tumelo Lethule
Junior Biokineticist
Tumelo hails from Rustenburg. She studied physiology at the University of Free State. and subsequently undergoing her Biokinetics degree at the University of Cape Town . Tumelo served her internship at the BMW plant in Pretoria.
